Northern Virginia weddings: vineyards, horse country, and the Blue Ridge.

Jessica and Nicholas at night beneath the lantern-lit portico of the Morrison House, curved iron railings sweeping down on both sides
Jessica and Nicholas at the Morrison House, Old Town Alexandria

Loudoun vineyards, Middleburg, and the venues strung along the Blue Ridge are the regular lane. Most of my wedding year happens within a couple hours of DC, and a lot of it happens here.

What you get from someone who works these hills

Vineyard weddings live and die on the last hour of light, and I plan the day backwards from it. I have photographed these ridgelines since 2018, and they keep the same habits: mist in the valleys until mid-morning, gold on the ridges at the end of the day.

You will not need to manage me, and you will not need a plan B for the photos. Where the light lands, what the fog is doing, and where we go if the sky changes its mind is my department.

Fit and logistics

Travel is included across Northern Virginia. The work centers on intimate weddings, roughly 20 to 80 guests, though bigger days that still feel personal are welcome. Weddings start at $5,500.

The venues

Northern Virginia wedding venues I have photographed

Confirmed weddings only. Second-photographer work is labeled as exactly that.

Jessica and Nicholas saying vows on the portico steps of the Morrison House above the fountain, guests watching from the shaded brick courtyard

Morrison House, Old Town Alexandria

Old Town Alexandria, VA

A boutique Federalist-style hotel a block off King Street. Courtyard ceremony under the portico, a dark-wood study for getting ready, and Old Town brick in every direction for portraits.

Photographed Jessica and Nicholas's June wedding here: getting ready, courtyard ceremony, and reception.

Anthony kissing Marrissa in the walled brick garden at The Athenaeum, shot through deep green foliage

The Athenaeum

Old Town Alexandria, VA

A Greek Revival art gallery with soaring columns, 24-foot ceilings, and a bricked courtyard with a secret-garden feel. Small ceremonies fit it perfectly.

Photographed Marrissa and Anthony's wedding here, and my records include two more Athenaeum weddings couples have planned with me.

Kalero Vineyard

Purcellville, VA ยท Loudoun County

A 130-acre Loudoun vineyard with an 1834 barn and Blue Ridge views. Exactly the kind of last-hour-of-light venue this page keeps talking about.

Photographing an upcoming October wedding here.

Beyond the venues

Also photographed in Northern Virginia

Capital One Hall rooftop and Meadowlark Botanical Gardens

I have photographed weddings at both as a second photographer on another studio's team: the rooftop in Tysons and the gardens in Vienna. Different lead, same cameras, and real familiarity with how both venues move.
